As an employee you’re entitled to proper eye care from your employer, and we can help you receive it
Did you know that your employer has a responsibility to make sure you receive the necessary eye care and eyewear that your job requires? It’s important that you’re having regular eye examinations to ensure that there are no signs of potential problems with your eyes and vision.
Here at SED Optical Eyecare we can carry out these checks for you, and can even conduct the necessary screening and health and safety tests to ensure that you’re not only free from any visual impairments, but also that the nature of your job doesn’t put your eyes at risk.
If you work in an office and use a computer or other VDU (visual display unit) for most of the day, your eyes can easily suffer strain and damage from the harmful blue light that is emitted from the display. We’ll make sure that there are no obvious signs of any problems, and can offer you eyewear that incorporates protective coatings to shield your eyes from unnecessary damage.
If your job is more physical – in a factory or on a construction site, for example – there are several hazards to your eyes. It’s essential that your employer ensures you have adequate eye protection during your work periods; we are able to advise on the type of eyewear you’ll need and supply it where necessary.
For your ultimate convenience, we’ll come to you during the working day so that you don’t even need to leave the building to receive your essential care. Testing you in your normal work surroundings also gives us the opportunity to see first-hand the type of environment and risks that your eyes are exposed to, and therefore what protection they need.
It’s beneficial for your employer too – aside from ticking the all-important Health & Safety box, ensuring that employees are free from any visual problems means that work can be done more efficiently, therefore increasing output and profitability too.
